In October 2006, BlueScope Steel (China) commenced operation of a major metallic coating and painting facility at Suzhou Industrial Zone in Jiangsu Province. This facility, which involves a capital investment of A$280 million, will manufacture 250,000 tonnes of metallic coated steel, and 150,000 tonnes of painted steel.
